Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Blues Society of Omaha… we have no paid staff, so everything the BSO does, is done by volunteers.

BSO Website Volunteers

This set of volunteer opportunities exist to help with managing and maintaining the Blues Society of Omaha’s website (omahablues.com, where you are at right now!). Some positions are already filled, but current volunteers feel that with additional help, we could create the best Blues website in the world! Really!

We are all learning how to do this, so although we are looking for people with experience and knowledge with WordPress, PHP, CSS and website design, we are willing to take regular folks like us who are willing to learn. Keep in mind that the skills and experience you will acquire working with us, could be very valuable in today’s job market!

Assistant Webmaster

These folks will work with the Webmaster to perform all the "back end" tasks associated with running a superior website. From creating and maintaining connections to our credit card processors to updating our WordPress plug-ins to creating new pages, this team will work to create the best Blues Society website in all the world! Social Media Campaign Director

These folks will work with Blues Society of Omaha events planners to create social media campaigns and individual posts for those campaigns. These campaigns are intended to create awareness of the BSO and attendance at the blues shows we sponsor and promote. Site Photo/Media Editor

These folks will work with the Event Data Entry volunteers to search for and optimize pictures of blues bands used on the Events Calendar for event promotion. In some cases, you might need to contact bands' promoters to solicit those pictures, but often good pictures are readily available on the Internet. Pictures, then, need to be optimized for use in the website, setting the proper size and resolution for a pleasing user experience. Site Event Tickets Manager

These folks will learn how to use the new ticketing interface for some of our events, and will work with the site webmasters to create, manage and maintain the tickets sold for some of our events.
