NEW BSO Website Launches!
If you haven’t heard, the new and improved website for the Blues Society of Omaha is now open to the public. In this first phase, the key feature is the BSO Calendar, which has an easy-to-use display of upcoming events. Hover your mouse over the name of a band, and a window pops up to display details about the event. Click on the name of a band, and a full listing of the event appears, including (when provided by the event organizer) pictures of the band, links to the event site, links to the band’s Facebook page or website, and even a Google map to the venue where they will be playing. If you don’t like the default “Calendar”, just click the “Show As” button and change to the List View.
For those of you who are volunteers, you no longer need to ask for the link to the Volunteer Information Portal, it’s built right into the BSO Website! Want to sign up to be a volunteer? The registration form is right there as well!
Want to access the website from your smartphone? No problem! The website is fully responsive and will look nice and function well right from your iPhone or Android (not sure about those Blackberries, though).
Many more features will be rolled out in the next several weeks, and the site will often be updated to stay up-to-date with the latest in website technologies.
This kind of effort couldn’t happen without the involvement of many volunteers. Special thanks go out to Steve Sidner, Jay Anderson, Jeff Malloy, Nancy Walsh, Lisa Stillahn, Theresa Jensen, Dave Heuton, Becky Packard, Chris Czerwinski, and of course, our web designer Rob Ruiz. And speaking of volunteers, we would love to hear from anyone who has experience working with WordPress!
