Mike Zito & The Big Band – 12BBB (Twelve Bar Blues Band) – Levi Platero Band
Mike Zito – Even the most casual blues fan in America knows this guy. Mike Zito has been a force on the blues scene since he hit it more than 20+ years ago. Now, with with 18 albums to his name, Zito is still headlining shows across the country. And on Saturday (July 16) he will headline Day 2 of Playing with Fire at Midtown Crossing’s Turner Park.
12BBB (Twelve Bar Blues Band) – Winner of the Dutch Blues Foundation’s Award for Best Blues Band, the Twelve Bar Blues Band (12BBB) plays “the blues, the whole blues and nothing but the blues.” And they do it quite well. 12BBB’s appearance at Playing with Fire will be the band’s first performance in the United States. You can expect to hear mostly originals with a mix of traditional Chicago blues and New Orleans styles.
Levi Platero Band – Rooted in the Eastern Agency of the Navajo Nation, Levi Platero and his band are originals. Levi was born to play the blues, and his natural style comes across effortlessly, especially in a live setting. Teaching himself guitar at the age of 9, Platero emerged to the Navajo Nation to the blues scene in 2004 with the Plateros, his family’s award-winning blues-rock power trio. After touring the U.S. with the band for 10 years, he played as a member of Indigenous for a year before returning to his own music and recruiting his own band.
