Mike Zito & His Big Blues Band! Mike Zito is an American guitarist, singer, producer, and songwriter from St. Louis, MO. Winner of the 2018 Blues Rock Artist of the Year at the 39th Annual Blues Music Awards, Zito serves as the band leader and front man of this All-Star Big Blues Band Show. There may not be a more honest bluesman than Mike Zito, whose 15th album ‘First Class Life’ came out May 11 on Ruf Records. The rocking yet poignant title track explores his journey from addiction to sobriety and then musical recognition. “Second chance at a first class life,” he sings, recalling the hard times. The Texas-based musician smiles and continues, “I grew up poor in St. Louis, and now I’m travelling the world to sing my songs.” The latest venture with his Big Blues Band will also feature some classic blues songs. Mike Zito with great sidemen and a sensational brass section will deliver the ultimate blues music experience for blues fans. For 12 years, Eric Demmer was the saxophonist for B.B. King, and prior to that, for Clarence Goutemouth Brown. Similarly, trumpeter James Boulet also played for many years in the B.B. King band. The second guitarist in this all-star lineup will be the legendary Tom Holland, former guitarist of the late harmonica legend James Cotton. With Mike’s original rhythm section of drummer Matthew Johnson, award winning bass guitarist Terry Dry and Freddie King’s former keyboardist Lewis Stephens also joining the band.
Special opening act Reverend Raven & The Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys Reviews:
“They are very, very good. That’s why I keep having them back.”
“The Reverend’s ability to keep a crowd going all night long is a matter of haunted local legend.”
Brian Barney, Shepherd Express
“These guys are really good…This is head and shoulders one of the best homegrown CDs I’ve heard in a long time”
Bruce Iglauer, Alligator Records
“You guys are the real deal” Tad Robinson
Rockin Johnny Burgin
“I’ve been a big fan of Reverend Raven for many years. Give his band one listen and you’ll become a convert as well. Strong vocals and incredible guitar playing, along with swaggering sax or hot harp, and a rhythm section that locks it all together into mighty grooves, this is how today’s Chicago-style blues should sound!”
Don “T-Bone” Erikson, Founding Editor, Blues Wax Magazine
“Best in the Midwest”
