Originally founded in 1998 by siblings Gerardo and Tony Meza, roots rock devotees near and far count Lincoln-based band Mezcal Brothers righteous practitioners of the genre’s pure, hard-driving beats. The Mezcal Brothers’ music has its roots in the 1950’s with the emergence of Rock & Roll. It is this earlier form of Rock & Roll, called Rockabilly, that drives the Mezcal sound. Artists like the young Elvis Presley, the flamboyant Little Richard, the irreverent Jerry Lee Lewis, and the influential writing styles of Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, and Eddie Cochran, have contributed to The Mezcal’s true Americana sound. Along with their original compositions and highly energized stage performance, The Mezcal’s bring a new vision to a classic tradition.
