Jeni Grouws: Songs from The Music House

After twice topping the Billboard Blues Album charts and touring nationally with roots rock group Avey Grouws Band, Jeni Grouwsembarked on a new chapter in the fall of 2024, accepting a songwriting residency with The Music House and relocating to Omaha. Unsure of what to expect, she was quickly captivated by the city’s vibrant creative community, rich talent, and spirit of collaboration. Songs from The Music House will showcase fresh music Grouws penned during her residency, along with previously unreleased material. She will be joined by an outstanding ensemble of Omaha musicians, including Jonah Bennett, Grant McMullen, Mitch Towne, and bandleader Andrew Bailie. Additionally, Jeni will feature three remarkable songwriters who have played a role in her Omaha journey: Jocelyn, Andre Vander Velde, and My Friends Call Me Mel.

About Jeni Grouws:

“It’s been a while since a vocalist gave me the chills. Grouws digs deep and you can’t turn away. She’s a belter with deep rooted soul.”  (Martine Ehrenclou/ Rock and Blues Muse)

“Jeni Grouws is a remarkably demonstrative vocalist, fully capable of delivering sturdy rockers, blustery blues, or…a tender heartfelt ballad.” (Lee Zimmerman/ Goldmine Magazine)

Jeni Grouws is a singer/songwriter as well as the co-founder of roots rock group Avey Grouws Band. What began as a personal journey of songwriting for therapy evolved into a flourishing career, leading to the 2008 release of her solo EP Scenic Route. Since then she’s focused on Avey Grouws Band, with two top ten Billboard Blues charting albums—The Devil May Care (#10) and Tell Tale Heart (#7). In September 2024, in an effort to get back to her singer/songwriter roots, Jeni relocated to Omaha when awarded a songwriting residency with the Catalyst Foundation, lead by Jeff Davis, founder of Playing With Fire. Never one to settle, Jeni Grouws is constantly pushing her boundaries with new sounds, new songs and new styles. As she continues to tour, she’s also focused on an exciting year ahead, with plans to record a solo album as well as an album with Avey Grouws Band.
