Guitars for Vets at Sumtur Amphitheater

Guitars for Vets, a Bellevue-based organization that seeks to bring healing to military veterans through guitar lessons, will hold a fundraiser in Papillion on Sept. 9.

The event is dubbed “Guitars for Vets MusicFest 2018” and will feature six performers and bands at Papillion’s SumTur Amphitheater beginning at 3 p.m. and concluding at 8 p.m.

Among the scheduled performers is Jimmy Weber, a popular country singer who retired from the Air Force while stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. Weber is well known among country music’s first rank and has performed with Kenny Rogers, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Clint Black and Trace Adkins.

He has opened for Rodney Atkins, Sara Evans, Josh Turner, Joe Nichols, and the legendary Beach Boys.

In 1991 he played lead guitar and sang backup vocals for the late John Denver during a concert at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium.

• 37 Years, an Omaha band that specializes in folk, country and Christian music.

• Chris Harman, an Air Force retiree whose repertoire includes many of “them old cowboy songs.”

• Quartus, an Omaha band with a wide range that includes rock, reggae, blues, funk and jazz.

• Nick Rucker, a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard and a country singer.
