Brad Colerick and Sam Packard & Jarana @ Hub & Soul
September 29 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Hub & Soul is a free event designed for people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate local musicians, local food and Lincoln’s parks. 21st and Q Streets at the Jayne Snyder Trails Center in
Lincoln, NE.
First Set / Brad Colerick and Sam Packard:
California-based, Nebraska-bred recording artist Brad Colerick writes songs that seep into your heart with a single listen. His finely wrought, plainspoken lyrics find the poetry in everyday language. Billboard Magazine called him “one of a baker’s dozen of acts to watch in the folk community around the world.” He moved from Lincoln to Los Angeles in 1986 and built a successful career mostly making music for commercials where he wrote and produced ditties recorded by such musical icons as BB King, Shawn Colvin, Buddy Guy, Amy Grant, The Chi-Lites, and Johnny Cash among others. Colerick’s albums land firmly in the Americana wheelhouse with guest appearances by Suzy Bogguss, Chris Hillman, Herb Pedersen, and April Verch. He’ll be joined for this show by ace fiddler Sam Packard of Lincoln.
Second Set / Jarana:
JaRaNa (HAH-RAH-nah): [noun/verb] In Peru, when all ages come together socially in a public place to enjoy and celebrate with food, games, music and dancing – that’s jarana! It’s used much like the English “party,” but with richer meaning and more energy. Jarana is your band for energetic, danceable music blending South American, African and Mediterranean beats. Shows include Flamenco, Rumba and Salsa styles with complex rhythms and infectious beats and exotic melodies. A variety of Andean and South American folk ballads are sung with conviction accompanied on authentic, traditional instruments. The occasional familiar cover gets a Latin makeover that infuses it with new life making it uniquely Jarana.
