One of my favorite blues fans, Glenn Bauer, just sent me this:
Greetings to all,

Yesterday I had the opportunity to be the guest host for the taping of Rick Galusha's Pacific Street Blues radio show that will air this Sunday, September 6th. It was a lot of fun doing the show with Rick and I wanted to tell you a little bit about it. Some of you are regular listeners, but many have never listened or even heard of the show. My hope is that you'll be able to listen to at least a portion of the show and that Rick can garner some new fans. Maybe you'll become a blues lover, too.

Rick has been doing the show for over 20 years and it's based out of Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA. The station is 89.7 (KIWR FM) The River. The show airs each Sunday morning from 9:00 AM until noon CST and there's a good mix of blues and Americana music.

For those of you outside the listening area you can listen to the show live on the web at http://www.897theriver.com/. Just click on the Live Audio Listen Now link in the upper right hand corner. Tune it in and turn it up.

The playlist for Sunday's show can be seen at http://omahablues.com/forums/blues-discussion/110-ps-blues-playlists-14.html and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Rick also archives the shows on a podcast at http://kiwrblues.podomatic.com/.

Thanks for letting me indulge myself and have a fantastic Labor Day holiday,

Glenn

Buckwheat Zydeco brings his irresistible Louisiana Dance Music to Murphy’s Matinee this week. In case you are not familiar w/ Shemekia, daughter of Johnny “ Clyde ” Copeland: At a young age, Shemekia Copeland is already a force to be reckoned with in the blues. While still in her 20s, she’s opened for the Rolling Stones, headlined at the Chicago Blues Festival and numerous festivals around the world, scored critics choice awards on both sides of the Atlantic (The New York Times and The Times of London) and shared the stage with such luminaries as Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Taj Mahal and John Mayer. Heir to the rich tradition of soul-drenched divas like Ruth Brown, Etta James and Koko Taylor, Copeland’s shot at the eventual title of Queen of the Blues is pretty clear. By some standards, she may already be there.
