Default BSO Blues Update

Greetings Blues Fans,

(I will send something else tomorrow. look for it please:-)

I am sending this email today because Pete at the Zoo is worried about his show tonight. They have Chicago Reggae band “Gizzae” performing at 6pm ($7 Cover). For a combination of reasons, The Zoo’s business has been a little slow lately, so they really need some music lovers to support this show. I have seen “Gizzae” several times at “The Wild Hare”, located just down the street from my nemesis’ home, Wrigley Field. (anybody catch that Cards-Cubs score yesterdayJ). I digress, “Gizzae” play excellent roots reggae in the style of Bob Marley. If that is your thing, go have a great time in Lincoln .

The Zoo also has a hot show Thursday afternoon: The Insomniacs! That is the hot band from the Pacific Northwest that is headlining the May 31st Cruises. Check them out on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgetThCcgto

If you are on myspace, please click on the myspace under the video and post it as a bulletin. It would be dandy if you could include this info:

The Insomniacs play The Zoo Bar in Lincoln at 6pm on Thursday, May 21st and The Blues Cruise on Sunday, May 31st. Visit www.zoobar.com and www.omahablues.com for more information.

Our band next TH at Murphy’s, Janiva Magness, was named Blues Entertainer of the Year by The Blues Foundation last week in Memphis. Hopefully that will get us some ink in the Omaha World Herald. We shall see.

Our Headliner for The Blues Curise, The Insomniacs, play early next Thursday at the Zoo also. Tough, tough decision. We have so much great music, we have to decide what to go see.
Tickets are on-sale now at Murphy’s and BarFly for Marcia Ball’s show at Murphy’s on Saturday, May 23rd. The Blues Society All-Stars will open the show at 7pm. Tix are $19 in advance, $24 day of show.
BarFly is sold out of Cruise Tickets. An extremely limited number of tickets remain at Murphy’s and McKenna’s. With a capacity of only 150, compared to previous years’ 350, I urge you to get yours today to avoid being shut-out.

Blues Cruise Tickets are on-sale today at McKenna’s and Murphy’s. Here are the details:

Greetings BSO,

The Insomniacs survived near disaster on the way to IL on Monday as the tire on than van blew and the wheel sheared off on the interstate. The guys are fine but the van is in the ICU in STL. The show must go on so we will see you at the cruise!

You can find them us facebook and myspace here:

The agent canceled the date. I think he said they were changing the direction of his tour. I will try to re book him the next time he is routed thru Omaha.

Good news is that the agent offered me Roomful of Blues as his replacement. Different style of Blues of course, but it doesn't get much better than Roomful.

Thanks for keepin' the blues alive.
