Greetings Blues Fans, Do your ears a favor and check out Rick Galusha's podcast of his PS Blues Program ( it runs live on 89.7 The River on Sundays from 9am-noon). Follow this link and click on the play button: http://kiwrblues.podOmatic.com/entry/eg/2008-01-16T13_56_44-08_00 Sad Blues News: BOB ENOS, ROOMFUL OF BLUES TRUMPET PLAYER -- JULY 4, 1947 JANUARY 11, 2008 Bob Enos, longtime trumpet player for Roomful of Blues, died in his sleep in his hotel room in Douglas, Georgia, early Friday morning, January 11, 2008 of suspected heart failure. He was 60. Roomful of Blues had played the Douglas Country Club the previous night. The band was on its way to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Sunday to perform on The Legendary Blues Cruise. I got this email from Jumpin' Kate, who apparently just moved back to the area from Vegas: Hey there! I'll be performing and chatting it up with good ol' Hardy Holm this Thursday, on his weekly broadcast at KZUM 89.3 on the FM dial from 10pm to 11pm. So turn it on and tune it up, I'll be singing new songs from my as-yet-to-become what is my 12th (twelfth!?! yes, numero 12) album. REMINDER: PERFORMING THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE MEADOWLARK, 17TH & South St, FROM 8 TO 10PM. AND.........These dates JUST ADDED: Friday, January 25th at the Arbor Day Lodge in Nebraska City, in the lobby from 7pm to 10pm. Sunday, January 27th at the Unitarian Church, in Lincoln, 10am service-the theme for the service is criminal youth-where does it start, how do we deal... Hope you are staying warm and invigorated with all your January activities! Take care and I'll see you here and there. Yours, JUMPIN KATE www.jumpinkate.com www.myspace.com\jumpinkateproductions Thursday, Jan. 17th, Albert Cummings returns to Murphy's for a 5:30pm show. This will be a non-smoking show as part of the BSO Vol Appreciation Party. It will be open to the public, with a $8 cover charge, so expect a packed house. And it will get even cozier for Jah Roots Reggae show at 9:30pm. If you don't like crowds, you might want to skip this week. Friday night, January 18th, there are tons of great options for Blues fans, but the best deal for BSO Members, and wannabees, is The BSO Winter Club Concert Series: Downtown Blues 1512 Howard / 345-0180 112 North Duck at 8:30pm, opening for Hamilton Loomis Free admission for Blues Society of Omaha members (Join, or renew, at the door and get in free) It is bad timing, but I also have a show this Friday at BarFly that would appeal to BSO members. Maybe hit it on your way downtown. Everyday People, a funk/blues/rock outfit from Austin, will perform from 9:30pm-11pm. They remind me of John Mayer, Jonny Lang, and Malforld Milligan. Check out their sound here and see if you agree: http://www.myspace.com/theeverydaypeople They will be followed at 11ish by local jam band, Dessa Vibes. Admission is just $5. Also Friday, January 18th: The very cool Damon Dotson at Mick's. I was able to catch two different shows at Mick's last week. What a great spot!
