Default New Year's Eve deadlines!!

Greetings Blues Fans,

Tickets for The Blues Society of Omaha's New Year's Eve Bash are now on-sale at Murphy's, The Lift, and BarFly. You can also buy up to one pair on The Blues Society's website: http://omahablues.com/index.php?page=nyevepartytix

Details:
Holiday Inn Central, 72nd and Grover
(Call them today (402-393-3950) to reserve your hotel room at The BSO price of $79 per room. The discount is only available until December 1st. The internet price tonight is $259.00)
8pm The Mezcal Brothers
10pm Ronnie Baker Brooks
Buffet Dinner, Balloon Drop, Party Favors, Cash Bar

Buy your tickets before December 10th for maximum savings. Here is the pricing structure:
Prior to Dec. 10th: $40.00 includes buffet.
Dec. 10th-Dec. 24th: $45.00 includes buffet.
Tickets purchased AFTER December 24th will be $45.00, but will not include the buffet.
BSO members can purchase up to two tickets with the $5 member discount on each ticket.

We are obviously trying to get everyone to purchase their tickets as early as possible so we can plan accordingly. The reason the buffet is NOT included in tickets purchased after December 24th, is because we have to place our food order on the 26th. Last year we lost a lot of money on our NY Eve bash because we tried to predict last minute sales and we overestimated the number by quite a bit.

Also on-sale now, at Murphy's and BarFly, are the tickets for the Indigenous show at 9pm at BarFly on Sunday, December 16th. ($17.50 in advance, $20 day of show.)

There are benefits the next two Sundays at BarFly (fka SHAG 707 n. 114th St.).
Sun 12/2 7pm-11pm: A benefit for Toni and Shawn Halpenny. Toni is undergoing treatment for cancer. Her husband Shawn is a familiar face to Omaha music fans as he has been running sound for area bands for years, most recently Blue House and The Confidentials. Both bands will perform Sunday, along with Island Party band, The Fishheads, and possibly more. A silent auction is planned. Admission is a voluntary donation at the door. All proceeds from the liquor sales will be donated as well. Joe and Wink from Blue House will be on Todd and Tyler (Z-92fm) at 10am today 11/29.

Sun 12/9 5:30pm-11pm: The BSO Holiday Party and Toy Drive for the Children of the Pine Ridge Reservation. The Side Effects will open the show at 5:30pm, followed by the Mercurys at 6:30pm, and two sets from award-winning soulman Zak Harmon at 8pm. BSO members are encouraged to bring a food item for our pot-luck dinner. Admission is $10 or an unwrapped toy. This benefit was created by Mercury's frontman Lash Larue. See photos of Lash presenting the toys to the kids in previous years here: http://www.myspace.com/lashlaruetoydrive

One of my favorite bands on the planet, The Hacienda Brothers, play TH,FRI,SAT at The Zoo Bar, and then Sun at 5pm at The Waiting Room. All of the Zoo Bar shows seem to start at 9pm. Listen to their way-cool Western Soul: http://www.myspace.com/haciendabrothers

Shawn Kellerman makes his debut at Murphy's tonight (11/29) at 5:30pm, and also plays McKenna's on Saturday night. I have not seen them, but Charlie Johnson from the Mezcal Brothers and Jeff Davis of PWF both give this Blues Rockin' guitar-slinger high marks! Here him here: http://www.myspace.com/shawnkellerman

(Does anybody follow those links I print????;-)

The Tijuana Gigolos are rumored to be taking a break after their NY Eve gig at The Zoo Bar, so their gig Friday night at McKenna's might be their last in Omaha for quite some time. http://www.myspace.com/thetijuanagigolos

There are only a few bands that I can't resist dancing to. KC's 9 pc. Latin band, Son Venezuela, is one of those bands. They headlined Omaha's Summer Arts Festival two years in a row, which I think is the only band ever to do that, and they had the crowd going absolutely wild with their mix of Soca, Mambo, Cha Cha and more. Catch them Saturday night at BarFly at 9pm. $10 at the door.

Thanks to everyone that renewed their BSO membership last weekend at McKenna's. You know you can do that every Thursday at Murphy's. Ric would love to take your money.

I hope to see y'all Sunday at the benefit at BarFly.
