| What: OEA Nominee Showcase Block Party Where: Benson in the area of Maple and 60th Streets Five establishments hosting performances: Barley Street Tavern, España Tapas Bar, Mick's Music and Bar, the PS Collective and The Waiting Room Lounge When: Wednesday, December 5 6 p.m. to midnight Admission: $5 wristband allows entry to all establishments OEA Awards Academy members admitted for free, must check in at The Foundry coffeehouse. Band members are also to check in at The Foundry. PRESS: Cameras encouraged, press asked to check-in and meet bands at The Foundry (6051 ½ Maple St.) for interviews. Omaha , Neb. To provide the public and the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards Academy a chance to see and support the 2007 OEA Awards nominees, all are invited to the OEA Nominee Showcase Block Party in Benson on December 5. Five Benson establishmentsBarley Street Tavern, España Tapas Bar, Mick's Music and Bar, the PS Collective and The Waiting Room Loungewill host performers. The event presents dozens of live acts spanning performing arts and live music with a visual arts slideshow, all highlights from the 2007 OEA Awards nominee pool. A $5 wristband gets the public into all participating establishments from 6 p.m. to midnight. Academy members are admitted at no charge and must check in at The Foundry coffeehouse. Band members must also check-in at The Foundry. The evening is sponsored by Bud Select. "We want people to come early, stay late and see the best of what Omaha has to offer in one evening," said Mike Fratt, Academy/Nomination Committee Co-Chair for Live Music. The Waiting Room Lounge, Barley Street Tavern and Mick's will host bands performing in 20-minute segments. España will feature DJs and ethnic ensembles, and the PS Collective will present the performing arts showcase. Screens throughout The Waiting Room and other establishments will show a constant feed of visual arts nominee highlights. The 2007 OEA Awards will take place on December 27 at the Scottish Rite Temple Theatre and January 3 at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available now through Ticket Omaha.
