Greetings Blues Fans, I am going to try writing this by daylight and see if that reduces my errors:-) Two corrections from Wednesdays's email: The cool show I was telling you about with Chris Gafney (of Dave Alvin's Band and The Hacienda Brothers) with Billy Bacon of the Forbidden Pigs, will be at Mick's in Benson (not at the Waiting Room) on Sunday at 5pm as part of the Sunday Roadhouse Series. They will also play Friday and Saturday at The Zoo Bar as part of their big anniversary celebration. (See the note below from the Zoo Bar). Please allow me to clear up any confusion about todays FAC. Old School is made up of Jim Cidlik, Sean Benjamin, Larry Boehmer, RJ Mischo, and Dave Watson. It has been a long time since Larry, Sean and Cid have played together, and it should be great fun. The Fac is included in tonights ticket that also features the Mezcal Bros. , Billy Bacon and Chris Gaffney or it will be just $5 for the afternoon. Please give Larry a great welcome home. Thanks, The Zoo Bar My other error was that I misstated the date of Robert Randolph's show at Stir. It is Tuesday, July 3rd, same day Billy Bacon and The Forbidden Pigs are at McKenna's. Also Tuesday, Acoustic Groove is aboard The River City Star. Great spot to catch the fireworks and hear a songlist every Blues Fan is sure to love. I really enjoyed their show Sunday at The Lift. While I have you, I would like to share an exciting booking just confirmed for Murphy's Lounge at 5:30pm on Tuesday, July 31st. You know it must be big if I am trying to do it on a Tuesday. Drum-roll please........................ It will be THE BLASTERS! The Blasters stink of rockabilly. They project the essence of small streets of post-war neighborhoods, car culture and the sun-bleached concrete of Downey, California. They are lead by Phil Alvin's soulful bellowing about causing chaos, chasing women and the loss of the citrus groves. Influenced by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and many others who came and went during the 1950's, The Blasters play the songs of the working man's curse and rock and roll romance. Founding members Phil Alvin and John Bazz, with the addition of Keith Wyatt on lead guitar and Jerry Angel on drums, are carrying on their hard-won legacy of one of the most credible and recognizable bands in Americana music. Click here for soundclips of their biggest hits: http://www.theblasters.com/cgi-bin/blast/sounds.html Due to the competition with Roger Waters at The Qwest Center, and the Fireworks and free show at Memorial Park, and hopefully the Blues Crowd heading to the Zoo Bar, it appears tonight's Cruise will not be a sell-out. We still have 50 of the original 350 tickets available, as of this moment. If you want tickets for tonight's cruise, just go to the dock. It looks like a perfect night weather-wise and a moon-lit sky:-) See you on-board, Terry O'Halloran BSO Prez and emailer |
