Default Roadhouse News

We know that some of you remember the Jones Street Brewery. And some of you have even been to the shows there. In 1995 I got a call from an agent who wanted to know if I was interested in booking one of his musicians. He described him as "kind of a Country/Blues guy". I told him that it all comes down to the music. Send me a CD and I'll give it a listen.
When I received the CD, "Loser's Paradise", I thought it had a cool cover.

I checked out the liner notes:
Produced by Dave Alvin. (Good sign.)
Guest vocalists include Lucinda Williams, Rosie Flores and Jim Lauderdale.
Hmm, I wondered why I'd never heard of this guy Chris Gaffney.

Before I'd listened to the entire CD, I called the agent back to schedule a date.
Turned out that the show was a kind of "double-header": Chris Gaffney and Billy Bacon in the same band performing each other's songs. It was called the "The Pair of Jokers" tour. It was the first time I heard "Cowboys To Girls" live. The show was a knockout and Omaha got one of its first tastes of Americana.
Well, guess what.... they're back! Both of them. Chris Gaffney with Billy Bacon and friends! Filling the July 1st date vacated by the postponement of the Hacienda Brothers!
Mick's will be a rollicking barroom full of fun when Gaffney and Bacon have their way with it. This will be a chance for you to hear some of the great songs from Chris' solo records that aren't performed with the Hacienda Brothers and see and hear what these "Two Jokers" can do together.

The show is Sunday, 7/1 at Mick's Music & Bar, 5918 Maple. The door opens at 4:00pm and the show starts at 5:00pm. Tickets are $12 ADV / $15 DOS. Also, *for this show only*, advance tickets are available ONLY online at:
http://www.sundayroadhouse.com/tickets.htm
Again, the online-only advance applies to *this show only*.
Start the long Independence Day holiday off with Sarah Borges and The Broken Singles on Friday evening, 6/29
