We went down to Gladstone, Missouri June 6th for their blues festival. OMAHA's playingwithfire is much larger in crowd attendance, however, the energy and music was just as good. MICHAEL BURKS played Gladstoner and was fantastic. Has he ever played in Omaha? If so, it would be another jewel in our crown if we could get this awesome bluesman in Omaha. www.michaelburks.com He put on a incredible show, so much energy. His new cd IRON MAN is highly recommended. The June 14th, 2008 Playingwithfire in Omaha was another super show. VERY CROWDED. I thought Levi William was fantastic and Indidgenous was very DISAPPOINTING. Looking forward to seeing TAB BENOIT. Thanks for everything.

Haven't checked out Michael Burks, thanks for the heads up. I also thought Omar and the Howlers were great. But, to my taste, Indigenous is better than they've ever been. Mato's chemistry with The Kris Lager Band is great, and I personally like Mato's playing better now than ever. I thought their show was killer.

Hey Greg - I've been playing the new Michael Burks on the show - maybe tune in. It is quite good although his song quality modulates between quite rockin' to a tepid sort of blues that are not indicitive of his live shows; he rocks pretty hard in other words. lol I like the chemistry between Mato and Kris and I think the Lager Band is making Mato get better; however, I'd like to see him "write" more tunes rather than platforms for jams. Listening to their early albums Mato wrote songs but these days its a bit chunk-a chunk-a compared to earlier days. I know, I know, people wanna rock but I do like a good melody line now and then. None-the-less Omaha has been a great support system for Mato and Indigenous and I know he appreciates the suppport and friendship.

Hey Greg - Thanks for the kind comment. I play Mr. Burks at the end of the second hour this week - with you in mind. Look for it around 10:45 a.m.
