Cool New Here

Hi, new member here. I've been a blues fan since getting exposed to it from listening to the Allman Brothers & the J Geils Band years ago. I saw the website address on a bumper sticker at Westroads Mall yesterday & checked it out.

I'm originally from Charlotte NC & was a member of the Charlotte Blues Society for a few years a while back. I used to frequent the Double Door Inn in Charlotte & got to see many local, regional & national blues acts there over 20+ years.

I've been very fortunate to see Albert King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Bob Margolin, (former Muddy Waters guitarist), Big Bill Morganfield, (Muddy's son), Saffire, Tab Benoit, Carl Weathersby & many, many more over the years.

My first question is, where are the places to hear good live blues in the Omaha/Council Bluffs/Lincoln Area? I'm actually in Shenandoah Iowa, close to Omaha.

Secondly, are there any local Omaha radio stations that feature any blues programs? We had a couple in the Charlotte area.

Later.

There are a few good clubs for blues and similar adult roots trends;

Murphy's Lounge - especially Thursday's at 5:30, (96th & L)
Barfly (114th & Dodge),
The Lift (110th & M),
Mick's Tavern (60th & Maple),
Downtown Blues (17th & Howard),
McKenna's (74th & Pacific),
The Barley Street Tavern (2 blocks south of Maple at 62nd St), and
Soaring Wings Wine Vineyard in Springfield, Nebraska on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons - generally.

There are two local blues shows;
Monday's, KIOS, 91.5 fm 1:00 - 3:30 p.m, and
Sunday's, KIWR, 989.7 fm, 9 am - Noon.

There is also at least one local blues orientated podcast;
www.KIWRBlues.PodoMatic.com

Welcome to Omaha.
