Default ERic Clapton's Autobiography

I just finished reading Patti Boyd's new autobiography. She was married to both George Harrison and then Eric Clapton. She is the inspiration behind Harrison's, "Something (in the way she moves)" and Clapton's, "Layla" and "You Look Wonderful Tonight." Its a sordid tale and I'll be writing a review for the City Weekly in a week or two.

Anyway, I thought you might find this interesting. Evidently Clapton, otherwise known as 'Patrick Clapham' (his birth name) has a new autobiography and greatest hits package coming out today (Tuesday, 10/09/07).

I read a Clapton Biography about 10 years ago, that documented a lot of his heroin abuse, but I didn't know a new one was out.

Eric was on Larry King CNN recently. An amazing interview. Very sharp individual who has obviously been thru Hell & back ..very candid..openly honest . Eric Clapton is a survivor and in my opinion the best guitar player I've ever heard.

I'm sure you can download Larry King podcast from CNN..check it out .

I never captured Clapton's guitar style until hearing Derek & the Dominos Live. That is a "great" album. The 'clapton is god' thing was too presumptious for me although I know he didn't orchestrate it. IMHO, I think he is the American B.B. King wearing similar suits, photographs and playing style. He is quite tasty but I don't understand why he needs not one but two hotshot guitar players on stage with him. Would it be fair to consider such a reliance as lazyness? I'll probably regret this but, for me, he has not been a good live act since the late 70's. He does strike me as a super nice guy (I've never met him) that can write very strong songs and play exceptionally well when he chooses to muster the energy.

I saw Clapton on Larry King as well, and have been a fan of Clapton's for many years. I never knew until seeing his interview how his life had been.
I just received his autobiography in the mail today and look forward to some serious reading.

Well, I don't know how to pull 'that one off' either, but I did get the book and started reading it, and it's not a let down.

So considering his vast career, which albums would you choose as, say, his best five? best ten, whatever.
