Default McKennas 09.21.07: Bill Lupkin

For any members of the blues society:
If we don't start supporting national touring acts, we will not have national touring acts. Bill Lukins' performance was outstanding, in front of six, that's six people. that won't pay for itself folks. for those of you who don't know who Bill is, you need to look at his website,
BillLupkin.com. This guy has played with Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Jimmy Rodgers, Howlin' Wolf, the list goes on. He is a blues harmonica monster. His tone, for all you harp players is absolute
killer. It was almost embarrasing to be sitting in Mckennas, watching this very traditional blues band play their hearts out, with six people watching. Those of you who didn't come, you missed a great band, a great performance. Keep not supporting live music, these blues bars are going to close, guareenteed.

I have a friend who likes to say that the only way to get Omahan's to an event is for it to be free and have fireworks. While it's clearly a cynical joke there is some truth to it.

There are so many free events in the market, especially within the blues genre, it has to lessen the ticket people are willing to shell out. You wouldn't think there could be a downside to a free event but I'll bet tavern's are punished when these free music events take place.
